Last season wasn’t the best for rookie Cyrus Jones.

Jones fumbled an NFL-leading five times returning punts and then had those struggles carry over to his defense, as he was a healthy scratch for much of the end of the season, including the postseason.

It was a frustrating year for Jones, but the Alabama product is putting it in the past.

"I'm just focused on this year," Jones told reporters on Thursday at Gillette Stadium. "I ain't really interested in talking about last year."

Added Jones: "I mean you can pinpoint a lot of reasons for you know my struggles. Like I said before, that's done, in the past. I'm focused on this upcoming season."

There is a chance for the second-year corner to make an impact this year as he has a great opportunity to be the Patriots’ No. 1 slot corner and wants to change the way people view him.

"It's a no-brainer. You watched last year," said Jones. "As far as proving something, I just want to come out and be a productive player for the team. I'm not going into every day saying I need to prove this, prove that. I'm just trying to come, work hard every day and get better."
