KANSAS CITY -- Eduardo Rodriguez looks to be on the verge of coming back.

Prior to his team taking on the Royals Monday night, Red Sox manager John Farrell said Rodriguez's right knee has progressed to the point where the Red Sox are planning on him facing hitters later this week. If all goes well, Rodriguez is slated to get a rehab start in the minor leagues.

The lefty had gone on the 10-day disabled list with a subluxation of the knee on June 2, a day after experiencing a fall in the bullpen while warming up for his start in Baltimore. Along with throwing off a mound, Rodriguez has also participated in agility drills and sprinting to test the ailment.

Prior to going on the D.L., Rodriguez was 4-2 with a 3.54 ERA.
