West: Judge won't let me leave country

Celtics unrestricted free agent guard Delonte West tweeted the following on Thursday:

“Can’t even go get that overseas money. Judge said it’s a no go on leaving the country.”

In mid-July 2010, West was sentenced to eight months of home detention as a result of the weapons charges that cost him the first 10 games of this past season.

While the home detention ended in March, West still faces two years of unsupervised probation. Based on his Twitter comments, West will not be allowed to seek a deal outside of the country during the lockout.

A couple of weeks back, West’s agent Jarinn Akana told ESPN.com, “With any player, there has to be due diligence to see what’s happening [overseas]. That’s basically where [West is] at. But he’d like to be back in Boston. He had a great time there, he loves his teammates and he loves the organization.”

Childress: Moss 'vomited' on Vikings

Former Vikings head coach Brad Childress blasted Randy Moss in an interview with NFL.com on Thursday.

“We had good guys, by and large,” Childress said of his Vikings team in 2010, “[but Moss] walked in the locker room and vomited on it.”

Moss made a good first impression with Childress, but that did not last long.

“He called me and said, ‘I can’t wait, I can’t wait. I feel like I’m coming home again,’ ” Childress said of Moss’ first phone call after being acquired by the team with which he began his NFL career.

The wide receiver was waived by the Vikings just four weeks after they acquired him from the Patriots on October 6.

Childress was fired in late November after a 31-3 loss to...

Poll: How much should Brady play?

The Patriots open their preseason schedule Thursday night at home against the Jaguars. There are a few trains of thought about Tom Brady and how much playing time he should receive. With the lockout-shortened offseason, the team might benefit more from seeing the new players in action. But Brady could take advantage of finding a rhythm with newcomers on the offense. Then again, no Patriots fan wants to see Brady get hurt before the season starts.

Billick on D&C: Ochocinco 'phenomenal'

Fox NFL analyst and former coach Brian Billick joined the Dennis & Callahan show Thursday morning, as the Patriots prepare for Thursday night's preseason opener vs. the Jaguars.

Billick said Patriots coach Bill Belichick did well in acquiring controversial players Chad Ochocinco and Albert Haynesworth.

The New England Patriots have been brilliant about getting players with specific roles in mind at just the right time in their career," Billick said. "Now, there is a little bit of a risk, but when you have the cache that coach Belichick and the New England Patriots have, you can extend yourself, take a little bit more of a gamble than maybe some other teams. Because ultimately the price you're paying for them is something you can walk away from very readily. I think they are going to do well."

Billick had high praise for Ochocinco — when the receiver is focused.

"You've got to love this young man, you love...

Mashup: Canseco 'a monster' to ex-girlfriend

A woman who dated former baseball star Jose Canseco has a hearing Thursday after filing a temporary restraining order against the onetime Red Sox player. Fitness model Leila Shennib, 24, said she has been the victim of harassment by the 47-year-old Canseco — including derogatory comments on Twitter, which were oddly followed by a marriage proposal — since they broke up early this year. Said Shennib: "He's a very selfish person and he doesn't think anyone can stop him. He's got a huge ego. He's really manipulative. All those things create a monster."

In other sports legal news, a San Diego judge sided with a Chiefs fan who was arrested at a Chargers game in 2009 after allegedly fighting security guards. The guards were physically removing the fan for obscene behavior but did not first warn him he was being ejected, so the judge dropped a misdemeanor battery charge.
