Bruins hold on in win over Habs, 2-1

QUEBEC CITY, Quebec -- Michael Ryder scored on a broken play in the first period and Mark Recchi set up a sweet Chuck Kobasew goal in the second period to lead the B's to a 2-1 win over the Montreal Canadiens during their fourth preseason game at the Colisee in Quebec City. Tuukka Rask made 20 saves through the first two periods and held off a furious Canadiens attack in the final 20 minutes to salt away the victory. Josh Gorges scored in the third period for the Habs to make it a 2-1 game, and Brian Gionta was called off-sides on a potential game-tying score in the final minutes. The B's are 3-1 during the preseason, and next hit the road to take on the Columbus Blue Jackets on Tuesday night.

Green headed to Boston for tests

BALTIMORE -- Red Sox infielder Nick Green did not leave with the team following its 9-3 win over the Orioles, but told WEEI.com he will instead fly back to Boston for tests on his right leg. Green, who has been hampered by what he described as a "dead leg" since last Monday, remained unavailable to play because of weakness in the leg. “It’s tough because I have no idea,” the infielder said. “I feel better every day, but I still don’t know why it’s doing what it’s doing. Hopefully I’ll know more tomorrow.” Green said he still can't remain in his batting stance for more than a few second before his leg gives out. For more on Green's situation see the Full Count Blog.
