CHESNUT HILL - Isaac Johnson forced QB Riley Skinner to fumble on a naked bootleg play inside the 10 as Boston College held on for a 27-24 OT win over Wake Forest at Alumni Stadium. Skinner led a 10-play, 80-yard drive in the final 90 seconds and forced overtime when he connected with a wide open Marshall Williams with :11 remaining in regulation. The difference was a 23-yard Steve Aponavicius field goal on the opening possession of OT. Skinner finished with 354 yards through the air, while BC signal-caller Dave Shinskie threw three touchdown passes and senior linebacker Mike McLaughlin made his return from an Achilles injury. Shinskie finished 18-of-29 for 228 yards as BC improved to 3-1 while evening its ACC record at 1-1. NEW YORK -- Speaking one day after he took a line drive off of the side of his right knee, Jon Lester said that he anticipates making his next start on Thursday. The left-hander's knee is sore and red, and is getting treated with ice, but the trainers did not suggest that he needed to stay off of it.
"It's not swollen too bad, just a little red mark right now," said Lester. "Like I said, everything's going in the right direction."
Tim Wakefield is also expected to make his scheduled start on Wednesday, following Daisuke Matsuzaka on Saturday and Paul Byrd on Sunday in New York, Josh Beckett on Monday and Clay Buchholz on Tuesday.

Red Sox right-hander Daisuke Matsuzaka looks to continue his recent success when he toes the rubber in a 4 p.m. start Saturday at Yankee Stadium. Matsuzaka, 2-0 with a 2.38 ERA since his return from a midseason layoff, is 3-2 all-time against the Yankees but with a 6.35 ERA. Dice-K has owned Alex Rodriguez, limiting the slugger to one hit in 12 at-bats with five strikeouts. Jorge Posada (.500), Derek Jeter (.333) and Johnny Damon (.333) have given Matsuzaka the most trouble.
On the hill for New York, CC Sabathia goes for his 19th victory of the season. Kevin Youkilis (.333) and David Ortiz (.304, two home runs) are the Sox' leading hitters against the big righty.

Prior to the Red Sox' match-up with the Yankees, Saturday, Red Sox manager Terry Francona spoke on how pitcher Jon Lester is doing a day after being hit in the leg with a Melky Cabrera line-drive. "All things considered he looks fantastic." Francona said that the Red Sox would like to have Lester make his next start, but "not at the expense of limping around." Hideki Okajima, who left the team to have a sore oblique examined, is already back with the club in New York. Francona also said that Victor Martinez is catching Daisuke Matsuzaka for the first time to cover all bases leading into the playoffs.
