The Butler Bulldogs continued their magical run through the NCAA tournament by beating Michigan State, 52-50, in the Final Four. Gordon Hayward contributed 19 points and collected the final rebound as Butler advanced to the NCAA title game in front of a hometown crowd in Indianapolis. Click here for the game recap.
Tim Wakefield gave up no runs on just three hits over four innings in helping the Red Sox claim a 6-1 win over the Nationals in the teams' final exhbition game before the regular season. Also pitching well for the Sox was Daisuke Matsuzaka, who followed up Wakefield with a four-inning stint in which he allowed a run on two hits, walking three and striking out one. Joe Nelson finished things off for the Red Sox giving up a hit in one inning of work. Wakefield is slated to the Sox' first road game, Friday in Kansas City, while Matsuzaka will begin the season on the 15-day disabled list, possibly pitching in the Pawtucket Red Sox season opener Thursday. Nelson will also start the season at Triple A Pawtucket.
Offensively, the Red Sox were led by Kevin Youkilis and J.D. Drew, who each hit home runs. The team traveled to Boston after the game in preparation for Sunday night's regular season opener against the Yankees at Fenway Park.
Point guard Dennis Johnson has been elected to the basketball Hall of Fame, according to a report in the Boston Globe. Sources tell the paper that Johnson will be inducted in the latest class this fall in Springfield, Mass. The official announcement is expected on Monday. Johnson led three teams to NBA championships, including the 1984 and 1986 Celtics. Johnson also led the Seattle SuperSonics to their only championship in 1979, earning NBA Finals MVP.
Johnson, drafted 29th overall in 1976 by Seattle, began his professional career as a shooting guard. After a short stint with the Phoenix Suns, he became the starting point guard for the Celtics and led the team to the NBA title in 1984, his first season in Boston. 'DJ" was voted to five All-Star teams, one All-NBA first and one second team, and nine consecutive All-Defensive first and second Teams.

The Bruins announced on Saturday that they have recalled 21-year-old defenseman Andrew Bodnarchuk from Providence on an emergency basis. Bodnarchuk will join the Bruins for their pre-game skate at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto Saturday morning. Bodnarchuk has skated in 70 games with Providence this season with five goals and 10 assists with 51 penalty minutes. He was drafted by the Bruins in the fifth round (128th overall) in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft.

Speaking before the Red Sox' final Grapefruit League game, against the Nationals at City of Palms Park Friday, Victor Martinez said that he doesn't feel like he will have to make sure that there are promises in his next contract that makes sure he remains a catcher. "I don't think I'm going to have to say that," Martinez said. "I'll just play where they need me to play. I just want to help my team win every night. If my body lets me catch, I'll be more than happy to do it. I really like the position and I prepare myself to catch every day." Martinez has expressed his preference for catching in the past, and will be serving as an everyday backstop this season for the first time since 2007.
