— The two leading candidates for Massachusetts governor — Republican Charlie Baker and Democrat Martha Coakley — had their next-to-last debate Monday night, and one of the topics that was discussed was the possibility of the Olympics coming to Boston.

“I say go for the gold,” Coakley said. “We’ll have that process. I think we are in a state now where Massachusetts has the opportunity to make that investment and I do believe and don’t disagree with some of what Charlie said, but as we move forward and plan for it you have to look at the numbers, obviously. If we look at it optimistically and say here’s an opportunity to invest infrastructure that we not only be great for Massachusetts to host this, but will be serviceable and useful for us going afterwards we have the smarts here in Massachusetts to do that.”

Said Baker: “Certainly the planning activity associated with the Olympic games is a good idea. By the way, some of the tools that have been developed with Boston 2024 to do analysis with how the city would change and basically how the region would change, view certain kind of assumptions around traffic and distribution, real estate and all the rest are going to be powerful tools to help the region plan moving forward. I certainly think the opportunity to host the game is one Boston and Massachusetts should take seriously.”

The hosts do not like the idea.

“She lives in her own world. These people live in a bubble,” Minihane said.

Added Callahan: “Invest in infrastructure. As soon as you hear that don’t you want to run for the hills? Grab your wallet, because they are coming after it.”

— Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi did not show up at a charity fundraiser for rescued animals in Santa Monica, California, on Sunday after having a huge fight in the car on the way to the event, according to the New York’s Post’s Page Six.

The report read: “Ellen and Portia were delayed and were in the car on the way when they had an epic fight. They ended up turning around and not going to the fundraiser.”

“There is no bigger phony in the world than Ellen DeGeneres,” said Callahan. “I wish some media outlet would pick up on it. We know it. We know the story. She is as phony as they come.”

— It has been reported North Korean leader Kim Jong-Un, who recently disappeared for almost six weeks, had surgery to remove a cyst from his ankle and that is the reason for his disappearance from the public view.

“I thought he was God-like, divine. Why does he get cysts?” Callahan asked.

Here are the highlights from Monday’s Headlines on Dennis & Callahan with Kirk Minihane, John Dennis and Gerry Callahan. To hear the segment, go to the Dennis & Callahan audio on demand page.

– It was a big weekend at the box office, as “Fury,” “Gone Girl,” and “St. Vincent” all finished in the top 10 in ticket sales. No. 1 was “Ouija,” topping all of the movies with $20 million.  The horror flick did horrible with the critics, but the board game-based movie was a hit with audience goers.

Callahan didn’t see that movie, but he enjoyed seeing the Bill Murray comedy “St. Vincent.”

“I’ll give it B-plus,” Callahan said. “It’s Bill Murray being Bill Murray is what it is. … Really being Bill Murray, like, kind of grouchy. He is likable in the end, you know how it works.”

Minihane and Dennis discussed Ben Affleck’s “Gone Girl,” saying there is one part in particular that hinders the movie.

“I gave it a B, I think you’re with me, the ending wasn’t good,” said Minihane.

Replied Dennis: “Well, it’s the way the book ended.”

Said Minihane: “That doesn’t excuse it, though.”

“What, you want them to change the ending?” asked Dennis.

Replied Callahan: “Just like ‘Lone Survivor,’ just change the ending — make it sexier.”

At first, Minihane couldn’t pronounce the movie “Ouija” and was surprised to learn that it was about the popular game.

“That’s how you say it? I didn’t know that,” Minihane said. “Like a stupid Ouija board? They made a movie about that? It made $20 million.”

– Comedian Jim Carrey hosted “Saturday Night Live” this past weekend as his new movie “Dumb and Dumber To” is on the verge of being released in theaters. Though there were high expectations going into the episode, the hosts again were disappointed with the sketch show.

“Are we at all concerned yet? Because I am about ‘Dumb and Dumber To,’ Minihane said.

Replied Callahan: “This has nothing to do with the movie.”

“I’m a little worried Jim Carrey’s lost his fastball,” Minihane said.

– In a somewhat of a surprising move, The Boston Globe backed Charlie Baker’s candidacy for governor over democratic candidate Martha Coakley. The newspaper has largely supported democratic candidates during election time. This endorsement had Callahan in a very confused state.

“I base my electoral decisions on [going against] Globe endorsements,” Callahan said. “I don’t know, I’m confused. What do I do?”

Replied Minihane: “You can’t vote for Martha Coakley.”

Said Callahan: “I would never do that. I would never, ever do that to you or anyone else.”

“What you do is you punt on it,” Minihane said.”

Here are the highlights from Thursday’s Three for All on Middays with MFB with Lou Merloni, Christian Fauria and Tim Benz. To hear the segment, go to the MFB audio on demand page.

– Former Boston Mayor Thomas Menino announced Thursday that he will suspend his book tour, no longer seek treatment for cancer and spend more time with his family.

“Great man, we all love Mayor Menino,” Merloni said. “Really, we will forever remember Mayor Menino — and he’s still with us and we still love the man. But I’m just saying, a great man for the city.”

Added Merloni: “He asked for everyone to keep them in their thoughts and prayers. I think I speak for everybody when I say we do.”

– Benz recounted an awkward moment during CSNNE’s 6:30 program with co-hosts Gary Tanguay and Trenni Kusnierek.

“He asked Trenni if she felt like role-playing, and there was a moment of silence there where I’m not sure if Trenni interpreted it the same way that Gary was meaning to ask it,” Benz said. “Whereas I think he was asking role-playing in terms of, ‘You play [Darrelle] Revis, I’m going to play Bill] Belichick,’ Trenni I swear got a look of horror on her face there for about 20 seconds to see where Gary was going with that.

“She got it at the end and everything was smooth after that. But, Trenni, if you’re listening, I was with you for the first 10 or 15 seconds as well. I didn’t know where it was going.”

– A freshman football player at Notre Dame made gossip headlines when he was spotted on a date with 42-year-old porn star Lisa Ann at a Knicks game.

“I can’t imagine the NCAA [not] finding a way to make this be a violation somehow,” Fauria said. “Like, somehow you’re dating a porn star, this has got to be in the guidelines of what you shouldn’t do.”

Added Fauria: “You’re Notre Dame, you’re Catholic Notre Dame, Touchdown Jesus. Do your really think the priests at Notre Dame are happy about this?”

Lisa Ann wasn’t shy about publicizing the date.

Said Fauria: “Good for him. Good for him. I’m not sure how long it’s going to last …”
