Long-time WFAN host Mike Francesa went on a rant for the ages on Monday following general manager John Idzik’s press conference and the Jets’ 1-7 start this season — losing seven straight games.
“The owner [Woody Johnson] has to be cringing,” Francesa said. “You can’t stonewall everybody that way. To go in there and waste 20 minutes of that time telling you how good everybody is when the team is a mortal embarrassment is a waste of time.”
During his press conference, Idzik used a “play like a Jet” phrase. Francesa doesn’t even know what that means.
“What does that mean?” he asked. “Commit a penalty, or fumble the ball, or drop the ball? Which one is that, play like a Jet? We know it’s not play well, because we’ve all been here all our lives.”
The Jets are coming off a loss to the Bills Sunday where Buffalo rookie wide receiver Sammy Watkins posted 157 yards receiving and a touchdown.
“You know how long it takes a Jets receiver to get 157 yards?” Francesa yelled. “Three years.”
