— With NBA free agency officially underway, Evan Turner reportedly has been getting interest from a few teams, including the Lakers. The Celtics, however, remain quiet.

Among the teams said to be interested in the shooting guard are the Knicks, Bulls, Pelicans, Mavericks and Grizzlies (according to The Sporting News’ Sean Deveney).

The Lakers reportedly have agreed on a four-year, $64 million deal with center Timofey Mozgov, who mostly sat on the bench for the Cavaliers during their title run, as they look to climb out of the Western Conference cellar.

The Knicks upgraded their roster with the acquisition of former MVP Derrick Rose in a draft-day trade, and they reportedly are closing in on a four-year deal with Joakim Noah. They have an opening at shooting guard and are said to be interested in a few free agents.

Turner, the No. 2 overall pick in 2010 who struggled to make an impact his first four seasons in the NBA with the 76ers and Pacers before arriving in Boston as a free agent in the summer of 2014, has indicated a desire to return to the C’s after averaging 10.0 points, 5.0 rebounds and 5.0 assists and 27.8 minutes per game over two seasons and reportedly being a positive locker room influence, but it’s not clear if Danny Ainge would spend the money to retain his services.

“I had some of the most fun playing basketball since I’ve played in the NBA,” Turner said recently on Yahoo Sports’ “The Vertical Podcast.” “We’ve had a great locker room. Boston was definitely a first-class organization. Brad Stevens did a lot for my career and my maturity.”

— A Canadian Football League game took a bizarre turn Thursday night courtesy of Montreal Alouettes wide receiver Duron Carter — son of NFL Hall of Famer and former ESPN analyst Cris Carter.

Carter caught a touchdown pass, holding on to the ball even after being drilled in the head by an Ottawa defender.

Carter then took his celebration right to the Ottawa sideline, bumping into Redblacks coach Rick Campbell and knocking him over. That didn’t sit well with the Ottawa players, who went after Carter as the referees stepped in to protect him.

When the dust settled, Carter was ejected, as was an Ottawa player who was the most aggressive in trying to retaliate.

— On the same day the NFL announced a four-game suspension for unsigned quarterback Johnny Manziel, the Cowboys learned they will be without three defensive starters to open the season due to suspensions of their own.

Linebacker Rolando McClain was banned 10 games for his second violation of the league’s substance-abuse policy in two years. He will sit along with defensive ends DeMarcus Lawrence and Randy Gregory, fellow Cowboys starters who were suspended four games each for substance-abuse violations.

All three players can participate in the team’s training camp, which starts July 30, and in the preseason.

Manziel also was suspended for a substance-abuse violation, and he could face more punishment as he has been accused of domestic violence. If the 23-year-old with a history of off-field issues does find a team willing to take a chance on him, he would have to miss the start of the season.

[0:12:57] ... In the manager's position you know the all star break. There keep Carl Willis. A torrent of LO would then have Carl Willis is is pitching count well. If if if that the new manager commander in and pick pick an automatic I don't think that a well in an interim manager would have the ability to do that. I Ike and I may be wrong about this if they made the move on John Farrell I don't think they'd say torrent of fellow is the new manager of the Boston Red Sox period. I think they'd say Carlos Melo is the interim manager through the end of the season I will take a look at how things golf they'll. Do that but in other words dale I don't think. I don't think Carl Willis is gonna go on his own. So I think the Red Sox gonna release a statement saying Carl Willis has been replaces pitching coach I don't. But of John Ferrell were to be fired. I don't think you'll be fired alone. I think they'd say John Ferrell and Carl Willis. I think it Boca. If something happened. Well that was the question I Atwood in it if they did this and in in my scenario wouldn't happen to the all star break but I look if I'm wrong happen tomorrow. Would would Carl Willis still be the pitching coach Dave Bing do enough with chili Davis they just loved them with the job chili Davis has done an even though the offense. Has kind of regressed to the mean a little bit. It's still pretty gut. Yes it is but you don't when you talk about. John Ferrell and and the team.
