It just wouldn’t be the first major holiday of the summer of Gronk without Rob Gronkowski celebrating it in the most Gronk way imaginable. My first reaction to seeing that Twitpic of him and that dangerette in the flag bikini was that it might embody everything that’s good about our great nation. It’s got football, success, liberty, old glory and white hot sex appeal all represented in one magnificent photo. And the fact that he was even able to focus on something as solemn as a bikini contest after leaving a club the night before with 10 groupies is a monument to his greatness.

I can only speak for me, but I believe that exercising your freedom to score double-digit chicks out of a bar and then salute the Stars and Stripes in bikini form is why those brave boys at Lexington and Concord fired the Shot Heard ‘Round the World all those years ago. And this weekend, Gronk was not just a Patriot, he was being a Patriot.

God bless America.

There are moments in any endeavor of great importance when no matter how much time and effort you’ve put into the cause, you question whether you’ve done enough. This is just such a moment.

For as much I’ve dedicated to the Free Brady cause, I’ve given some, but some are giving all. Like the lady who put “Tom Brady is innocent” into her obituary. Or the people who showed up to the rally at Gillette on Sunday. Or this couple, who are forgoing their honeymoon until Brady gets justice, who are proving the old adage that no one is free until all men are free.

Honestly, this level of commitment among those who are defending the wall has me feeling ashamed of myself. I couldn’t be bothered to show up in the middle of a holiday weekend to lend my support? What was I doing that was so important it couldn’t be interrupted? Taking care of my family? Spending time with friends? How many Super Bowls have they ever won? My place was there, among my true loved ones, being part of the struggle. Not drinking beer, cooking out and having one of the twice monthly cigars I’m allowed under the Entercom health plan. I feel like those gentlemen in England now abed that Henry V mentioned in his “St. Crispin’s Day” speech, thinking myself accursed I was not there, and holding my manhood cheap whilst any speaks who fought with them upon Free Brady Day.

So my sincerest apologies and regards to this couple for their unparalleled dedication to the cause. All we can hope is that they get the justice they seek, Brady gets reinstated, they go on that honeymoon and get busy making lots of little Brady fan babies. The world needs more people like them.

The guys discussed the latest news regarding Tom Brady's appeal.

What a brilliant move by Tom Brady. In life’s great game of “Sorry!” he just landed his piece on the arrow and slid ahead of everybody. This is PR 101, the oldest trick in the book. Your reputation is in tatters? You’re being called a cheater, a liar, a fraud? Your popularity went from Jon Hamm-level to 50 Cent-caliber? You’re being slandered, libeled, called words you never heard in the bible? The answer is simple: Buy a puppy.

Seriously, it works every time. Why take the hard road of proclaiming your innocence, fighting the charges and struggling to win back the public’s trust when all it takes is getting a dog and letting him lick your face? There’s not a human being or Jets fan in America that won’t be won over instantly at a toaster-oven warm display like this. Because we all know that no man who loves puppies could ever ever be capable of skirting the rules to gain a competitive advantage. It’s just not possible. I’ll even bet TB12’s people polled focus groups to determine that “Scooby” is the most trustworthy name or something.

So well played, Tom and Gisele. Well played indeed. Getting a dog saved Nixon’s career back in 1952. There’s no reason to think America is going to fall back in love with you all over again after this.

Check. Your move, Roger Goodell.

The guys opened the show by discussing David Ortiz's struggles.

The NBA witnessed one of its scariest moments of the postseason Monday night, when Warriors point guard Stephen Curry took a worrisome tumble in Game 4 of the Western Conference finals.

Curry, attempting to block the Rockets’ Trevor Ariza, was upended and hung in the air before crashing down hard on his head and shoulders. He would remain face down on the hardwood for minutes before walking off the court on his own power.

“That was the worst (fall ever) because you’re in the air for a long time,” Curry said after the game. “And not knowing how you’re going to hit the floor, knowing that it’s going to happen, it’s inevitable, but you’re up there just trying to brace yourself.”

After taking the fall in the second quarter, this year’s NBA MVP would return in the third, as the Warriors suffered a 128-115 loss. Before returning, Curry underwent the necessary concussion protocol for full clearance.

“It was all minor stuff compared to how it looked,” Curry said. “But I’ll get some good rest (Monday night) and be ready to go … since it happened to now, nothing has gotten worse.”

Overcoming the fall, Curry finished the game with 23 points in 31 minutes. The Warriors now lead the series 3-1 as they return home for Game 5 Wednesday night.

Following the Wizards’ loss in the Eastern Conference semifinals, Paul Pierce seemed disillusioned with basketball.

“Truthfully, what was going through my mind is, I don’€™t have too much of these efforts left, if any,” Pierce said. “These rides throughout the NBA season, throughout the playoffs, are very emotional. They take a lot out of not only your body, but your mind, your spirit … . I don’€™t even know if I’€™m going to play basketball anymore.”

However, with $5.5 million still remaining on his contract, retirement is not a likely scenario for the longtime Celtic. Instead, speculation abounds that Pierce will opt out of his deal and rejoin coach Doc Rivers in Los Angeles with the Clippers. To add further motivation for a potential move, Pierce grew up in the Los Angeles area in Iglewood, California.

“Washington’€™s main issue is complacency,” NBA.com columnist David Aldridge wrote Monday. “The Wizards could stand pat if Pierce decides to return to D.C. next season rather than opt out of his deal, but many around the league believe Pierce will do just that and finish his career back home in Los Angeles with the Clippers.”

Aldridge argued that the Wizards are content to begin their search for Pierce’s long-term replacement at the small forward position. With John Wall and Bradley Beal locked in as the backcourt of the future, Washington has the chance to develop youngster Otto Porter Jr. or pursue another option in a trade.

Meanwhile, the Clippers would be more than enthused to get Pierce this offseason, especially after watching Matt Barnes shoot a horrendous .267 percent from beyond the arc this postseason. If Pierce does decide to leave Washington and put off retirement, the Clippers would seem to be the perfect destination.
