— Residents of Aaron Hernandez’s Connecticut hometown held a candlelight vigil for the former NFL star, who committed suicide in prison last week. Approximately 200 people attended the vigil in Bristol on Monday night after Hernandez’s private funeral took place in the same town earlier that day. Members of the community gathered for the vigil in front of the football field where Hernandez played as a child.

“This is our way of being able to say our final goodbyes,” said Malique Ritchon, a cousin of Hernandez. “Anybody that may have went to school with him, played against him, played with him, even people that watched him play on the field.”

These members of the Bristol community knew Hernandez before his murderous activities and choose to remember him as the person he was while growing up in this town.

“The Aaron that I know was a good kid,” said Sara Vasquez, another family member. “He was my baby brother so I always saw him like a baby. He was a little, how can I say, Dennis the Menace. He would do his little jokes, but he was special.”

Hernandez’s funeral took place at the O’Brien Funeral Home in Bristol Monday afternoon.

Maurkice and Mike Pouncey were in attendance, along with Brandon Spikes and Andre Dixon. Also in attendance were Hernandez’s fiancee Shayanna Jenkins-Hernandez, the couple’s daughter, Hernandez’s mother, Terri, older brother, DJ, and family lawyer Jose Baez.

— Madison Bumgarner spoke out Monday on the dirt bike accident that put him on the disabled list with an injured left shoulder. The pitcher was involved in the accident on Thursday in Colorado.

“I realize that was definitely not the most responsible decision I’ve made,’’ Bumgarner told reporters with his arm in a sling. “It sucks not being able to be out here with my guys trying to help us win games. It’s very unfortunate. I’ve talked to a lot of them and they know where I’m at. Everybody’s been supportive.”

Bumgarner believes he will be out for 6-8 weeks with the sprain. This is his first time on the DL in his nine-year career.

“We don’t think he’s out for the season,’’ trainer Dave Groeschner said. “But I don’t have a timeline right now.’’

“I wish I had some kind of cool story for you that it was some kind of crazy wreck, but it really wasn’t anything spectacular, just super unfortunate,’’ said Bumgarner continued. “We were actually being pretty safe the whole time. It was just a freak deal.’’

Bumgarner also acknowledged riding his dirt bike was a bad move.

“It’s probably not the first time I’ve made a stupid decision, but we are human,’’ Bumgarner said. “The only thing I’m putting my focus on now is busting my butt in rehab and making sure I’m getting back here and helping this team.’’

[0:06:27] ... how could this ever happen and ABS on the and he was Isiah Thomas the situation. I just looked at as this is absolute best you're we're gonna get from Dwyane Wade and Rajon Rondo. This ...
[0:13:59] ... and for an you know you worry about -- what they think Isiah Thomas to change the way he plays -- he's not -- I don't order he buys the caller who know. Results is they'll lose his mind in the grisly spurs series and then after that they've actually gotten pretty good drizzle yeah but it isn't this is the mayor talking about it like. He's just going to be again. Okay I'll keep you and me but if he's that he's not a good coach because I know what a good coach on site. And it was last year in the Atlanta series that was in total total there now yes oh yes and and when you do what they did Isiah Thomas. And that is a check mark in the criticism of Brad Stevens that series now I'm not saying he should get fired like John vause just. I'd say hey it and I think that he actually did not see that but I do think you deserve criticism because they did to adjust to what they were dough and didn't have the guys to adjust yeah a certain extent. But this comes down to can you get other people that Isiah Thomas scoring the Basque. You blow your allowed this to TV your drivel on every possession he is impossible to power he's impossible to guard. Our countdown front and possible they also is impossible anyway there are trying to go small lot against the Celtics and send your dot game one. You had seventeen more rebounds and yet a 1000002 chance shots. And then he sees the Celtics going small now they start very small wood green in for Amir Johnson. And they say yeah what all those small tube that one. But he panicked he did they other I'll let you up 20 in the series they had then adjust CU and then he. Arnold lost his mind and now you have these really small balls lineups where wouldn't you just have Lopez Mirotic imported apparel all those guys is dominate the. Yes yes and here's another one and bruises he's argued coach. He puts Michael Carter Williams on Isiah Thomas one on one. I mean you're talking about the Atlanta series last year where there are double and triple team in this guy and you're leaving this six foot five backup. Who was not considered a lock down defender by any stretch of the imagine he is not the itemized as mom may be is is moms said he's pretty good offensively she's line very nice person and I like the fair and we very much got by you you have in Britain went on one on Isiah Thomas yet how does that make in an I don't care if it's for. Two minutes of the game yeah that that to ...
[0:19:17] ... for the top three most impressive guys on the Celtics outside of Isiah Thomas. In this area this hour for. Which is which you wouldn't be saying after the first two games. Nobody us was that ...
