— Aroldis Chapman signed a five-year, $86 million contract with the Yankees on Wednesday, the largest contract ever for a closer.

Chapman told ESPN his decision came down to the Yankees or the Marlins.

“I love the [Yankees organization],” he said. “They welcomed me with open arms and that’s why I decided to go back. I was hoping I had a chance to go back and it happened. Every player dreams of being a Yankee, and if they don’t it’s because they never got the chance.”

The signing was first reported by Fox Sports’ Ken Rosenthal.

The Yankees acquired Chapman from the Reds last offseason, but Chapman missed the first 29 games of the season sue to a domestic violence suspension. He was dealt to the Cubs in July and became a free agent after winning the World Series with Chicago.
