Former Red Sox outfielder Trot Nixon was released Wednesday by the Milwaukee Brewers. The 34-year-old Nixon played in Boston from 1996 through 2006, also played for Cleveland, Arizona and the New York Mets before landing a minor-league deal with the Brewers last December.
