Former Patriots running back Mosi Tatupu, a popular player during his tenure in New England from 1978-90, died Tuesday at his Massachusetts home at the age of 54. According to a report in the Honolulu Star-Bulletin, Tatupu had been dealing with high-blood pressure and other problems. "He had some health issues," family friend Barry Markowitz told the newspaper. Markowitz said he had been informed of the death by Tatupu's ex-wife, Linnea.
Tatupu, who was born in Samoa and raised in Hawaii, was named to the Patriots 50th Anniversary Team last year as a special teams player. Tatupu had been coaching running backs coach at Curry College and previously had served as head coach of King Philip High School in Wrentham, where he coached his son, Lofa, who now is a linebacker for the Seahawks.
