With the general managers meetings in Chicago now concluded, the offseason is already well under way for the Red Sox. Boston has completed a trade for outfielder Jeremy Hermida, seen the return of Jason Varitek and Tim Wakefield, and started the process of exploring the trade and free agent markets to figure out how the team might improve on its hasty exit from the 2009 playoffs.
