Just two hours after losing their fifth straight game, the Red Sox finally clinched the American League wild card berth at 12:50 a.m. ET Wednesday morning when the Los Angeles Angels beat the Texas Rangers, 5-2, at Angel Stadium. The Red Sox had a chance to clinch earlier in the evening but their dramatic comeback against Toronto fell short in an 8-7 loss at Fenway. Some Red Sox players and staff actually stayed around at Fenway Park to celebrate the club's sixth playoff berth in seven seasons. The Red Sox will play the Angels in the American League Division Series next week, with the first two games in California. For full coverage, visit the Full Count blog.
