Red Sox pitcher Josh Beckett, who had been scheduled to start Monday's game against the Blue Jays, has been scratched due to mild back spasms. Right-hander Michael Bowden, who has made five relief appearances for the Red Sox this year, will instead get the start, his first in the majors in 2009 and the second of his big-league career. Bowden won his only previous start last August against the White Sox.
