Paul Byrd allowed 10 hits and seven runs in just 2.1 innings to set in motion a blowout in Chicago, with the White Sox claiming a 12-2 victory over the Red Sox. Junichi Tazawa came on in relief of Byrd and allowed seven hits and five runs in 3.2 innings. The Red Sox were left to make wholesale changes, replacing seven of their starters by the third.
