Jed Lowrie was removed from Triple A Pawtucket's game on Wednesday night due to discomfort in his wrist after striking out in the only plate appearance of his third rehab game. A PawSox spokesperson said that the removal was precautionary following "an anxious moment," but that Lowrie seems likely to return to the lineup on Thursday assuming that there is no further issue. Lowrie hit three homers in the first two games of his rehab assignment.
"He said it was similar to what he felt before," Pawtucket manager Ron Johnson told the Providence Journal. "I don't think it's going to be a major thing. I'm not a medical guy. I probably shouldn't get into this ball park. But you know when you have a surgery done, there are going to be days when it's going to feel different. I think he had some anxiety going on so we just shut it down."
