ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- Starter Clay Buchholz, who would have entered Tuesday's game had it reached a 14th inning, will once again be available as a fail-safe option in the bullpen on Wednesday. According to Red Sox manager Terry Francona , the right-hander remains in line to start in Yankee Stadium on Saturday.
Here are other notes from the manager's pre-game session with the media:
--With Josh Reddick having been sent back to the minors, Nick Green is the fifth outfielder. J.D. Drew, who is out of the lineup on Wednesday with left-hander David Price on the hill for the Rays, is a little sore but otherwise fine following his participation in Tuesday's game, his first full game since last Thursday due to a sore left groin.
--Francona spent about 45 minutes with pitcher Daisuke Matsuzaka on Tuesday in an effort to clear the air and move beyond last week's controversy. "I felt really good about it and I think he did, too," said Francona.
