Terry Francona confirmed in his postgame press conference Tuesday that outfielder Jacoby Ellsbury (broken ribs) will be activated from the disabled list on Wednesday. Ellsbury, who has not played for the Red Sox since May 24, had three hits Tuesday in his final rehab game with Triple-A Pawtucket.
"He brings something to our lineup that we've been missing," said Francona of Ellsbury on Tuesday. "That threat to run and the speed when he is healthy and going, what he can do, that gives us a different look that teams have to respect."
Francona told the media that a corresponding roster move will be made, but did not name a specific player.
