According to Larry Brooks of the New York Post, the NHL has indicated a willingness to move off their stance regarding the 2013-14 salary cap. Brooks tweeted Saturday that the league would be willing to go up to $63 million or $64 million after previously holding at $60 million.
The players had wanted a $67.5 million cap but recently moved to $65 million. Brooks added that he does not know what the league is seeking in return for the concession.
The NHL and players' association are meeting Saturday in an attempt to bridge some of the remaining gaps for a new collective bargaining agreement. Issues also unresolved entering the day include the maximum length of contracts and salary variance.
