After Rajon Rondo totaled 20 assists in 32 minutes during the Celtics' 107-89 victory against the Raptors, Jason Terry was the first to say, if they contend, the point guard's "going to get MVP votes."
"JT's on my side, so he's a little biased," said Rondo, who also extended his double-digit assist streak to 33 games, "but MVP is in the picture. I would like to be one day, but we've just got to keep winning. Who wouldn't be? That's the dream."
Terry scored a season-high 20 points, and Rondo assisted on six of his seven field goals. Likewise, Kevin Garnett netted 15 points, and Rondo assisted on five of his six makes. So, you can see why he would get his teammates' NBA MVP vote.
"Obviously, I'm going to be biased, because I play with him, and I see his growth and I see how hard he works, but when it comes to his presence on the game, that's hard," said Garnett. "That's up there with the modern day Kobe [Bryant]s and LeBron [James]es and all that. ... When you look at the overall package, it's unbelievable what he's doing."
Not bad for a guy who played Saturday afternoon on a slightly sprained right ankle that kept him out of the C's previous game. "I'm back at about 79 percent," said Rondo, "but I'll get some rest tonight and get back up to about 94."
