Six weeks after his surprise retirement from the Celtics, Keyon Dooling accepted a role as a player development coordinator in the organization, he told reporters after the C's 100-94 victory against the Wizards.
"Wow first day on the job!" tweeted Dooling, who will likely have to relinquish his position as vice president of the National Basketball Players Association. "Such a different experience."
Averaging 4.0 points and 1.1 assists in 14.4 minutes over 46 games for the Celtics last season, Dooling earned a reputation as a positive locker room influence and mentor for young guards like Rajon Rondo and Avery Bradley. C's teammate Brandon Bass even dubbed him "the Rev. Keyon Dooling" during the playoffs.
