FOXBORO -- The Patriots acquired cornerback Aqib Talib and a 2013 seventh-round pick from the Buccaneers on Thursday in exchange for a 2013 fourth-round draft pick. Talib is currently suspended for violating the league's policy on performance-enhancing substances. He is under contract through the end of the season.
The 26-year-old Talib was a first-round pick of the Bucs in 2008, and is in his fifth season in the NFL. The 6-foot-1, 205-pounder was at his best in 2009 and 2010, when he finished with a combined 11 interceptions in 26 games played. In his career, he has 182 tackles, 53 pass breakups and 18 interceptions.
Talib was given a four-game suspension for his infraction and has one games remaining on the ban. (Talib has said he took Adderall, a medication generally used to treat Attention Deficit Disorder.) He has also had multiple arrests and was involved in a fistfight with teammate Cory Boyd at the 2008 rookie symposium.
