Speaking to WEEI.com after the Celtics' open practice at TD Garden Sunday, center Darko Milicic explained that the pain in his right wrist most likely would be a lingering issue going forward and could only be truly healed with rest.
Milicic, who sat out the final four exhibition games due to the wrist ailment, said he was content with dealing with the discomfort while taping the wrist in order to continue playing. The 7-footer participated in the Celtics' entire practice Sunday, including portions of each of the intrasquad scrimmages.
"I have some pain and it's going to come back," he said. "The only way I'm going to heal is not doing anything. Not lifting or anything. But I just can't do it right now. I can't let it go. I have to keep lifting and working out. The pain is going to be there for some time, but it is what it is. The tape gives me some support and that will be on it as long as I feel some pain."
Milicic played in four exhibition games for the Celtics before his injury, averaging 3.3 points and five rebounds per game in an average of 14.5 minutes per contest.
