According to Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports, "several teams" have expressed interest in Red Sox reliever Takashi Saito in a potential trade. Rosenthal also cited major-league sources who said that the Red Sox and Rangers discussed a deal of Saito for first baseman/DH Hank Blalock, but that the trade discussion was tabled after Rangers outfielder Josh Hamilton landed on the disabled list.
Saito is 2-0 with a 2.42 ERA and 22 strikeouts in 22.1 innings for the Sox. Since May 13, he has logged 11 straight scoreless appearances. Opponents are hitting .247 against the right-hander.
