WALTHAM -- Optimism abounds at Celtics camp before the team heads to Istanbul later on Monday.
"This is the best team we’ve had since I’ve been here, I think, as far as on paper, as far as the depth of talent," Rajon Rondo said. "We’ve got to make something of it."
Coach Doc Rivers spent the last practice working on smaller lineups that he said the team hopes to use every game this season. The possibilities are endless with Jeff Green potentially able to share time at forward with Paul Pierce.
"He’s the main guy when you talk about small lineups," Rondo said. "He played the four at Oklahoma City. He stretched the floor with his shooting. We can get a lot of bigs on the floor as well. He can go from the four to the three. Defensively, he can check one through four, I believe. We expect a lot out of Jeff but he’s fine with that pressure."
"I don’t know if I’ll use it more but I know I’ll be able to use it effectively," Rivers said. "We’ll be able to go big with Jeff and Paul at the two and three. We have a lot of different lineups on paper that look good and we’ll see how they look when the season starts."
