PHILADELPHIA -- Jacoby Ellsbury's one-out single in the 13th inning gave the Red Sox the lead for good, as the visitors claimed a 5-2 win over the Phillies, Friday night at Citizens Bank Park. Nick Green's sacrifice fly and an RBI single from Mike Lowell supplied two insurance runs. Ryan Howard had hit a 1-1 pitch from Ramon Ramirez into the right field seats with one out in the ninth inning to tie the game at 2-2 and send the Red Sox and Phillies into extra innings. The homer took away the win for Jon Lester, who retired 17 of his last 18 batters, while earning strikeouts on 10 of his last 12 outs. Lester became the first Red Sox lefty pitcher to strikeout 10 or more batters in three straight starts, finishing with 11 strikeouts. The Sox' starter finished his seven-inning, 111-pitch outing having given up just two hits and one run, allowing just one ball to reach the outfield. Kevin Youkilis and J.D. Drew supplied the offense for the visitors, each hitting opposite field, solo homers. Daniel Bard picked up his first major league save.
