Vick, Chung leave with injuries

FOXBORO -- Patrick Chung and Michael Vick left Monday night's preseason game after suffering injuries in the first quarter. Both players headed immediately to their respective locker rooms with neither expected to return. 

Vick was drilled midway through the first quarter on Philadelphia's second drive of the game. He dropped back and scrambled in the pocket. Instead of taking the sack, he heaved the ball downfield, opening his side to the oncoming Jermaine Cunningham. The Patriots defensive end drilled the Eagles quarterback in the ribs. Vick was slow to get up before taking a knee and being tended to by Philadelphia trainers at the Eagles 10 yard line. X-rays on his ribs were negative but he was ruled out for the rest of the game. 

He made his way to the sidelines before heading off the field slowly with the help of training staff. 

For the Patriots, Chung injured his shoulder making a tackle with Sterling Moore on the Eagles final possession of the first quarter. He came off the field and was immediately seen by Patriots team doctor Tom Gill. He was taken to the locker room and was not expected to return, though his return was officially listed as questionable.

Chung was hurt when he tackled LeSean McCoy near the Patriots sideline. The injuries come on a night when the Patriots decided not to dress 26 players during warm-ups including Tom Brady, Wes Welker, Aaron Hernandez, Vince Wilfork and Brandon Lloyd. Jerod Mayo and Rob Gronkowski also dressed but did not see any action. 

Another starting defensive back - Dominque Rodgers-Cromartie - was injured for the Eagles as he injured his shoulder in the second quarter and didn't return.
