According to Yahoo! Sports, the Celtics began the process of pursuing free agent guard Jason Terry just after midnight, positioning themselves to replace Ray Allen if the 37-year-old decides to sign elsewhere.
The report states that the Mavericks, for whom the 34-year-old Terry has played with since 2004, still have interest in bringing him back, with the Clippers also showing interest. Terry averaged 15 points per game for the Mavs in 2011-12.
In the same story, Adrian Wojnarowski writes that the Celtics have interest in Clippers guard Nick Young, a 27-year-old who averaged 14.2 points per game last season.
Gary Washburn of The Boston Globe also tweeted early Sunday morning that the Celtics have reached out to the representatives of free agents Jamal Crawford and O.J. Mayo.
