Rivers: 'I just want them to tell us soon'

ATLANTA -- The Celtics conducted practice at Georgia Tech on Monday while they waited for word from the league as to whether Rajon Rondo would be suspended for bumping official Marc Davis late in Game 1, Sunday night. Rondo talked to NBA security Monday morning, and as Doc Rivers pointed out, they don't usually call to wish you well.

"In my experience I’ve never had the NBA security call and say, 'You know what Doc? You did a great job last night,'" Rivers said. "That has never happened. I just want them to tell us soon. That’s the one thing, if I have an issue with the league, they wait until after shootaround tomorrow and we’re guessing. I would like to know right now."

Rivers said that Rondo walks a fine line.

"We’re a volatile team. Rondo’s an emotional player," Rivers said. "The old saying, I’d rather kindle a fire then start one. I like his fire and sometimes he burns you. I like the fire that he has. Why was he involved? Because he was into the game. He’s a fighter for his team. You don’t want him to go that far, obviously. That’s just who he is. That’s also what makes him great. It’s a fine line and every once in a while he crosses it."

If Rondo is suspended, look for the Celtics to start Avery Bradley at the point and probably Mickael Pietrus at the other guard spot.
