According to a report from Chris Broussard of ESPN, the Celtics are "aggressively shopping" Rajon Rondo to other teams as the NBA trade deadline approaches.
"Boston is aggressively shopping Rondo," Broussard writes. "The Celtics find Rondo's personality to be too high-maintenance and his clashes with coach Doc Rivers continue. With the Celtics having realized they are no longer title contenders, they don't believe the payoff is worth the headaches Rondo brings," sources tell Broussard.
Rondo has been rumored as a possible candidate for a trade since the end of the lockout, with a deal to Golden State for Stephen Curry the most recent, according to Broussard, who writes that the Warriors decided against making the swap.
The NBA trade deadline is March 15. Celtics president Danny Ainge has been adamant all season that he is not looking to deal his All-Star point guard.
"I was not trying to trade Rajon Rondo," Ainge told The Big Show in January. "There's a big difference between trying to acquire a player and trying to trade a player. I know that some people say, 'Oh, that's just semantics.' No it's not. Rondo knows what I was trying to do, and he knows I wasn't shopping him around and trying to trade him, like has been reported. There's a big difference."
