Heartbroken again: Giants win Super Bowl

INDIANAPOLIS -- Ahmad Bradshaw scored on 6-yard run up the middle with 57 seconds remaining as the Giants once again crushed the Super Bowl dreams of the Patriots, 21-17, in Super Bowl XLVI at Lucas Oil Stadium. The Patriots allowed Bradshaw to score to give Tom Brady time to march down the field for a chance to come back. The Patriots converted a fourth-and-16 but could not get the game-winning score as a Hail Mary in the end zone fell incomplete. 

Brady fired touchdown passes to Danny Woodhead and Aaron Herandez as the Patriots led, 17-15, heading into the fourth quarter. The Patriots fell short of finishing off a year dedicated to Myra Kraft. It would've been the Pats' fourth Super Bowl title in the last 11 seasons. The Giants won their fourth Super Bowl title. 

Brady finished 27-of-41 for 276 yards and two touchdowns with an interception, while Manning was 30-of-40 for 296 yards and a touchdown. Hakeem Nicks caught nine passes for 105 yards. 

It was a nightmare start for the Patriots. Following a Steve Weatherford punt that pinned the Patriots at their 6, Brady dropped back and was hit by Justin Tuck as he threw. He had Rob Gronkowski open but held on to the ball and threw it away down field and was called for intentional grounding in the end zone, resulting in the safety that put the Giants up, 2-0. 

After Zoltan Mesko punted on a free kick, the Giants took the ball down the field and took a 9-0 lead when Eli Manning hit Victor Cruz on a 2-yard TD pass. 

The Patriots had the ball for less than four minutes in the first quarter but started changing the momentum with a 39-yard field goal from Stephen Gostkowski in the second quarter. 

Brady then put together one of the most impressive drives in Super Bowl history when he completed all 10 passes in marching the Patriots 96 yards in 14 plays, finishing off the record-tying drive with a 4-yard TD pass to Danny Woodhead with eight seconds left in the first half. 

Brady then continued his amazing streak by going 5-for-5 for 54 yards on the opening drive of the third quarter, hitting Aaron Hernandez for a 12-yard TD. Brady didn't misfire until his second drive of the third quarter, setting a new Super Bowl record with 16 consecutive completions, breaking the previous mark of 13 held by his idol, Joe Montana. 

But the Giants drew closer with two field goals from Lawrence Tynes as the Patriots led 17-15 heading into the fourth. Brady however, committed a costly turnover when he escaped pressure only to throw for Gronkowski into coverage downfield. Linebacker Chase Blackburn made the interception.
