INDIANAPOLIS -- Matt Light was not on hand for Tuesday's Super Bowl "Media Day" due to a stomach bug that also affected other Patriots team personnel. Light was the only player not to attend the annual event on five days before the biggest football game of the season and is believed to be the only Patriots player affected by the bug, according to a report by the NFL Network.
"Matt Light, please get well soon," Osi Umenyiora told reporters during the Giants media session on the Lucas Oil Stadium field. "I hope to see you on Sunday. You are one of my greatest friends."
Defensive lineman Umenyiora and left tackle Light have a long history of scuffles during games, dating back to the regular season finale of 2007. Last week, Umenyiora told reporters that Light does things to him while blocking that got under his skin, leading to the hard feelings the two have had over the last four seasons.
Light also missed his media availability on Monday as he was originally scheduled to speak but his place was taken by Dan Connolly at the team hotel.
