FOXBORO -- Tom Brady wants to hear some noise on Sunday, Patriots fans.
“Yeah, start drinking early,” Brady said with a smile on Wednesday morning. “It’s a 4:15 (p.m.) game. They have a lot of time to get lubed up, come out here and cheer for the home team.”
Shortly after Brady’s Q&A with the media ended, Patriots spokesman Stacey James told reporters the quarterback -- who has endorsed Smartwater -- that he wanted to clarify that statement. The quarterback, James said, “wants everyone to drink a lot of water, stay hydrated. Drink responsibly.”
Brady has asked for more noise in the past, and has chided fans for leaving early. He was asked about the possibility that crowds at Gillette Stadium have become “expectant.”
“We’ve spoiled our fans, is that what you’re saying?” he said. “If we make good plays, they’re going to scream. If we don’t make good plays, they’re going to probably boo us. So we’re going to focus on trying to make good plays.
“The crowd, it always helps when they’re loud but we have to give them reasons to be loud. We have to give them reasons to cheer for us. Hopefully those muskets are going off a lot this weekend.”
