Tim Wakefield lost his bid for a no-hitter when he gave up a single to Oakland's Kurt Suzuki in the eighth inning, but still led the Sox to an 8-2 win over the A's yesterday in Oakland. J.D. Drew crashed a three-run homer and Mike Lowell added a two-run shot to provide the bulk of the offense, but the real story was Wakefield, who retired the first 15 hitters he faced and ended up pitching a complete game, allowing two runs and four hits in the victory.
