16th Annual Jimmy Fund Radio-Telethon raises more than $3.9 million

The 16th annual WEEI/NESN Jimmy Fund Radio-Telethon presented by Arbella Insurance Foundation raised $4,001,611 for the fight to strike out cancer. Thank you to everyone who gave! Since 2002, your generous support has helped raise more than $49 million. 

Kirk & Callahan kicked off the 16th annual Jimmy Fund Radio-Telethon with a call from Patriots quarterback Tom Brady (audio). We also heard from other big-name guests such as Massachusetts governor Charlie Baker (audio, video), Red Sox president Sam Kennedy (audio, video), Director of Patient and Family Programs at the Jimmy Fund Lisa Scherber (audio, video) and Red Sox chairman Larry Lucchino with Dana Farber Senior VP Dr. Lee Nadler (audio, video). Other guests included cancer patients and survivors Greg Syrek (audio), Jen Fox (audio, video), Maddy Manganello & Molly Malone (audio, video), John Ahlstrom (audio), and Mindy Schutte (audio). Doctors Barrett Rollins (audio) and Brian Crompton (audio) also joined the program along with volunteer Marc Bresloff (audio). Deane and Linda Smith, whose daughter Chelsea died from hepatoblastoma, discussed their experience with Dr. Alison O'Neill (audio).

Ordway, Merloni & Fauria followed up with guest appearances by former Secretary of State John Kerry (audio), MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred (audio), former Bruins player Shawn Thornton (audio, video), Red Sox President of Baseball Operations Dave Dombrowski (audio, video), and Red Sox outfielders Jackie Bradley Jr, Mookie Betts, and Andrew Benintendi (audio, video). Massachusetts State Treasurer Deb Goldberg ended the show with a massive $470,901 gift to the Jimmy Fund (audio). More cancer patients and survivors along with doctors and clinicians joined OMF including Angelo Bellia with Dr. David Shulman (audio, video), Sandy Cassanelli (audio), Joan Janssen with Stephanie Morrison, RN (audio), Jen Noonan (audio, video), Connie and Trevor Etheridge (audio), Jordan Lambert (audio), Andy Wall with Dr. David Reardon (audio), Liam Slattery with Caitlin Stratton, RN (audio), Camille Wahl with Despina Stavros, RN, & Tracy Ryle, RN (audio, video), and Dominic Deluca with Dr. Richard Stone (audio).

Dale & Holley with Keefe began with Celtics co-owner Steve Pagliuca calling into the show (audio). Other big name guests included Red Sox utility man Brock Holt with Dawn LeClair and Kristina Cardini, RN (audio, video), Red Sox second baseman Dustin Pedroia (audio, video), Red Sox chairman Tom Werner (audio, video), Academy Award-winning actor Casey Affleck (audio, video), and Maria Menounos (audio). Cancer patients and survivors were also among the guests, including Maggie Stillman (audio), Nancy Williams with Dr. Hal Burstein (audio), Parker Sullivan (audio, video), Devon Whitbeck (audio), Sarah Podradchik with Courtney Shea, RN (audio, video), Ivon Gois (audio), Anthony Guido with Dr. Kimmie Ng (audio), Oliver Baublis with Sandra Rutland, RN (audio), Annette Perreault with Dr. Stephen Sallan (audio), Annie McNamara with Dr. Robert Soiffer (audio), Maya Rubio with Dr. Andrew Place (audio, video), and Lisa Dumont with Dr. Passi Jane (audio).

Day 2 began bright and early with a new edition of Kirk & Callahan as the crew invited more cancer patients and survivors on the air. The interviews included Kelley Bernard (audio, video), Paul Curtis (audio), Jen Goldberg -- mother of Miles Goldberg, who died of osteosarcoma (audio), Yasser Farahat with Nahomie Johnson (audio, video), Pete Cosenza (audio), Max Mitchell with his family (audio, video), Laurie Wenham with Christine Leonard, RN (audio), and Art Streeter with Jason Glass, NP (audio). Doctors and clinicians were also among the guests, including Kate Munroe, RN, and Amanda Carnes, RN, (audio), Lori Buswell, RN, (audio), Dr. Laurie Glimcher (audio, video), and Director of Patient and Family Programs at Dana Farber Deborah Tofler (audio). The program was headlined by an interview with Boston Mayor Marty Walsh (audio, video).

Wednesday's edition of Ordway, Merloni & Fauria featured guest appearances from The Jimmy Fund and Dana Farber director of patient and family programs Lisa Scherber (audio, video), 1967 Red Sox infielder Mike Andrews (audio, video), Boston Bruins forward Patrice Bergeron and head coach Bruce Cassidy (audio, video), and Red Sox ace Chris Sale (audio, video). Several cancer patients and survivors joined the program, including Chris Silver with Dr. Elizabeth Buchbinder (audio), Barry Nelson with Dr. Christopher Lathan (audio), Scott Hurlbert with Dr. Ken Anderson (audio), Lyndsay McCaffery (audio), Austin Jones and family (audio, video), Michael and Donnamarie Truchan with Dr. Bob Mayer (audio), Kyle Koster and family (audio, video), Melissa Webber (audio), Mike Mottola (audio), Linda Khang with Dr. Andrew Hong (audio), and Bobbi Gibson with Dr. Toni Choueri (audio).

All funds raised benefit the Jimmy Fund's annual Red Sox spring training trip for teen cancer patients at Dana-Farber.
