JD was diagnosed with testicular cancer at the age of 29. He was having groin pain he thought was a hernia and went to the ER. He had surgery to treat the cancer, and it came back six months later, spreading to his chest, lungs and brain. JD had 1/3 of his right lung removed and 10 percent of his left lung removed. During treatment, he had a bicycle brought into his hospital room on his first day of chemo and rode during his treatments. He went to Dana-Farber for a second opinion and started chemo. JD recently rode in the PMC, which marked one year, cancer-free. He is a police officer in Worcester and served in Iraq with the U.S. Army Reserves.
