The Red Sox have activated relief pitcher Matt Albers, who had been on the 15-day disabled list with a strained right lat muscle, optioning Alfredo Aceves to Triple A Pawtucket.
Albers appeared in two games prior to going on the DL, not giving up a run or hit while striking out three and walking a pair in two innings of work. Aceves pitched in six games after being called up from Pawtucket, allowing two runs on five hits over eight innings. He struck out five and walked two.
