Dwight Howard of the Magic was the runaway winner of the NBA Defensive Player of the Year award on Monday, receiving 114-of-120 first-place votes. It is the third straight Defensive Player of the Year honor for Howard, who is the first player in league history to win the award in three consecutive seasons.
The last player not named Dwight Howard to win the award -- Kevin Garnett (2007-08) -- finished a distant second in the balloting, picking up a single first-place vote and 77 total points (Howard finished with 585 points). Rajon Rondo placed fifth in the voting for the second year in a row (45 points).
