In order to fill one of the two roster spots voided by the three trade deadline deals made on Thursday, the Celtics signed Chris Johnson of the NBA Development League's Dakota Wizards to a 10-day contract and expect him to play against the Nuggets, according to FanHouse.
The Celtics reportedly dealt Kendrick Perkins and Nate Robinson to the Thunder for Jeff Green and Nenad Krstic, sent Semih Erden and Luke Harangody to the Cavaliers for a 2013 second-round pick and capped a wild afternoon by shipping Marquis Daniels and cash to the Kings for a protected second-round pick in the 2017 draft.
Those deals left the Celtics with just eight available players entering Thursday night's game against the Nuggets — hence the Johnson signing. The 6-foot-11, 210-pound center has averaged 16.9 points, 9.6 rebounds, 2.9 blocks and 1.3 assists in 32.7 minutes per game this season for the D-League team based in North Dakota. He is shooting 52.1 percent from the field and 73.4 percent from the free throw line. Johnson participated in Celtics training camp this past summer.
