WALTHAM -- Celtics coach Doc Rivers has heard all the criticism and venom spewed toward Kevin Garnett lately and after practice Wednesday responded to some of it, including recent comments by Suns coach Alvin Gentry that he no longer "respects" Garnett.
"It's amazing," Rivers said. "That's fine. I don't think Kevin cares, one way or another. We sure don't. When I hear a coach saying anything, ask them if they would trade for them. I have a feeling they'd say, 'Yeah, yeah, we'll take him right now.'"
Always known for his brash behavior on the court, this season Garnett has reached a new level. He has been criticized throughout the season for after-the-whistle contact and trash-talking with opposing players. In November, he was accused by Detroit's Charlie Villanueva of using the term "cancer patient" to insult Villanueva and, most recently, he elbowed Dallas guard Jose Barea last Friday under the basket.
