The New Jersey Devils are the apparent winners in the Ilya Kovalchuk sweepstakes. The superstar forward has been dealt by the Atlanta Thrashers to New Jersey, according to Kevin Allen of USA Today on his Twitter page [1]. The Bruins were one of several teams reportedly interested in acquiring the star before the March 3 trading deadline, along with the Los Angeles Kings, Chicago Blackhawks and New York Rangers. News of the deal comes just hours after Thrashers general manager Don Waddell said the team would be "aggressively moving forward" after Kovalchuk, a two-time 50-goal scorer, turned down offers of $101 million over 12 years and $70 million over 10 seasons.
