U.S. Soccer national team forward Charlie Davies, a native of Manchester, N.H., who played at Boston College, was in serious condition Tuesday night after being injured in a car accident in Arlington, Va., earlier in the day. Davies underwent several hours of surgery at Washington Hospital Center Medstar, according to news reports. One person was killed in the accident. The 23-year-old Davies, who has four goals in 17 international appearances, started and played 78 minutes in the Americans' 3-2 victory over Honduras on Saturday that clinched their sixth straight World Cup berth.
