Jeremy Hermida, who was released by the Red Sox last Sunday, has signed a deal with the Oakland A's, who sent the 26-year-old outfielder to Triple-A Sacramento. Hermida had been playing with Triple-A Pawtucket prior to the Sox releasing him, having hit .288 with two homers in 19 games with the PawSox. The outfielder had originally be designated for assignment by the Red Sox on July 31, ultimately clearing waivers before accepting an assignment to Pawtucket. Hermida hit .203 with five homers and a .605 OPS with the Red Sox. Hermida was originally drafted by the Marlins with the 11th pick in the 2002 amateur draft.
