The agent for second-round pick Brandon Spikes said Sunday morning he is "hopeful" the Patriots will agree to their latest contract offer.
"Regarding the Spikes negotiation, I have put together a contract offer to them that meets past precedent and custom," said Terry Watson. "I am hopeful they accept it."
With the news that fellow second-rounders Rob Gronkowski and Jermaine Cunningham have come to terms, Spikes and first-round pick Devin McCourty are the only two (of the dozen) members of the 2010 draft class who have yet to agree to a contract. The rookie portion of training camp is set to begin Sunday, while veterans report for their first practice on Thursday.
