Kevin Youkilis homered twice and drove in four while David Ortiz and Jason Varitek also went deep as the Red Sox fended off the Kansas City Royals, 15-9, Saturday night at Fenway Park. The Red Sox scored three apiece in the first and second, on their way to a 9-0 lead after four. But the Royals fought back after winner John Smoltz (1-2) left with a 9-1 lead after five. The Royals had the tying runs at the plate in the seventh with none out before Daniel Bard came on. For Smoltz, it was his first win with the Red Sox. For more, visit the Full Count  blog.
