The Celtics recalled center Fab Melo from their NBA Development League affiliate on Wednesday morning.
Melo averaged 10.9 points, 6.9 rebounds and 3.8 blocks in 12 games for the Red Claws, including a triple-double of 15 points, 16 rebounds and a D-League record 14 blocks as well as a 32-point, nine-rebound and nine-block performance sandwiched around Christmas. A mild concussion sidelined Melo from Maine's most recent game. Procedural rules also led to the 7-footer being recalled to Boston last month in order to be treated by the C's training staff.
Melo also has been rumored among possible DeMarcus Cousins trade scenarios along with Avery Bradley, who also returns to Boston on Wednesday when he joins the Celtics' active roster against the Grizzlies for his first action since undergoing double shoulder surgery in the offseason.
