The Chiefs fired coach Romeo Crennel on Monday, with Chiefs chairman Clark Hunt saying afterwards that "no final determination has been made" regarding the status of general manager Scott Pioli.
Crennel, formerly the Patriots defensive coordinator and Browns head coach, led the Chiefs to a 2-14 record this season, netting them the first overall pick in the 2013 draft. He was promoted from defensive coordinator to head coach of the team last season after the firing of Todd Hailey after 13 games.
Pioli left the Patriots in 2009 to join the Chiefs, but since his arrival the team has gone just 23-40.
